We take your food very seriously!
An essential part of every chalet experience is coming home to tea and cakes by the fire, aperitifs in the hot tub (!) and a delicious 4-course candlelit supper with carefully selected wines. We take pride in creating our chalet menus using only the best ingredients and ensuring that everything is freshly prepared each day.
Wake up to a veritable feast!
We have learned from our guests that everyone has a different idea of what makes a great breakfast – so we aim to keep you all delighted with a daily array of freshly baked croissants, pain au chocolats, warm baguette and toast, local french jams and honey, fresh fruit, yoghurts, muesli, porridge, cereals, cheese, and of course, if that isn’t enough, your choice of cooked eggs, bacon or pancakes… phew, that should keep you going till lunch!
Our Daily Bake off.
There is always a freshly baked cake waiting for you when we pick you up at the end of a hard day’s skiing – it’s our incentive for you to look forward to after accomplishing that very first parallel turn or that steep mogul run. You can cast off your ski gear, take off those uncomfortable boots and curl up beside the fire with a cup of tea and a slice of coffee cake… or lemon drizzle cake… or crumbly carrot cake… or apple and cinnamon cake… or a light Victoria sponge… or delicious chocolate brownies… or scones and cream tea…
Aperitifs and Canapés
How about a glass of fizz in the hot tub?
Once you’ve had a chance to take a nap, watch a movie or relax in the hot tub we will serve aperitifs beside the fire. We always welcome you with a bottle of champagne on your first night and offer a wide range of complimentary drinks throughout your stay to enjoy alongside our tasty evening canapés. We are always trying new recipes to whet your appetites including our favourites – arancini with spiced chutney, sizzling chorizo in madeira wine, smoked salmon and spinach feta parcels, reblochon tartiflette bons bons and Jem’s pork and comté cheese empanadas with salsa.
Your Evening Meal
A delightful supper by candle light with our choice of French wines.
We are constantly refining our evening menus and have created a range of courses across the week that are balanced, flavor-some and nutritious. We like to produce recipes that are a blend of international cuisine and Haute Savoie chalet favourites using the best local ingredients and preparing everything freshly each day. Our four-course suppers include an appetizing entrée, a main meat or fish course and pudding, followed by a selection of local cheeses served with grapes and port.
“Wine makes every meal an occasion, every table more elegant, every day more civilized.” Andre Simon
Our thanks to Le Verre Gourmand who have helped us to select some delicious chalet wines sourced from vineyards in Bordeaux and the south of France. Every year we choose a white, red and rosé Vin de Table as well as a premium white and red to compliment certain dishes. Our house champagne, Beaumont des Crayeres, has even been described as a ‘mini-bollinger’ dry, elegant and fruity – and we love the light and fruity fizz of our white and rosé Bel Star Prosecco from the Veneto region of northeast Italy.
We offer a children’s 2-course menu for all our younger guests to enjoy a little earlier in the evening between Afternoon Tea and Aperitifs depending upon your preference. It means that we can adapt our adult menus to suit smaller appetites as well as allowing the grownups to enjoy a more relaxed ambiance during supper. It goes without saying that all our children’s food is freshly prepared each day.
We always ask our guests to let us know in advance if there are any dietary requirements, allergies or preferences so that we can plan and adapt our menus. We are always happy to work with you to produce a range of dishes that will delight everyone at the table.
One night off during a 7-night Ski Week
We do take a few hours off for just one evening during the week (usually the 5th night of any Ski Week) and can suggest and reserve a table at one of the many excellent Haute Savoie restaurants in either Morzine or Les Gets serving local specialities such as fondues, raclettes, pierre chauds and tartiflettes. Alternatively we have a local bar restaurant in the centre of La Cote D’Arbroz just 7 minutes walk from the chalet. La Ratelli is run by Claire and Stephane and produces excellent French cuisine.
We don’t take a night off during our Short Stay holidays.
